GODOY, M. P. de
  • Antique Forest, and Primitive and Civilized Men at Pirassununga County, S. Paulo State, Brazil. Anais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, XXXV, n. 1, Rio de Janeiro 1963, pp. 83-101. Bibliografia.

"The Tupi-Guarani Indians have bequeathed to Whites 65.87 % of the Pirassununga region covered with early virgin forest, and 34.13 % covered by 'campo cerrado'. During 139 years of civilization the Whites destroyed 59.69 % of the early virgin forest…" (p. 99). Supõe o autor que o campo cerrado não foi formado pela ação do homem, isto é, do índio, mas "is a natural flora's climax mainly due to soil and geological data." (ibidem).
